NIOC_HAWAII-BannerIt is a tradition for the NIOC Hawaii to celebrate history and heritage each year with their traditional Birthday Ball. But this year they will celebrate the future of where the world’s greatest Navy is going and where they have come. Technology is a fast advancing field and the nation and world have come so far. Ronald Reagan proposed the SDI project that was so advanced and far fetched that they joked and called it the “Star Wars” project. President Reagan embraced this and went so far as to refer to the Soviet Union as the ‘Evil Empire’. This project has ties to helping bring the Cold War to an end and they want to bring light to what seemed to be far fetched technologies that have now become a reality!

Food and seating will be provided for attendees along with commemorative ball glasses and coins. The doors open at 1730 and the ceremony commences at 1900 and goes to 2100 where the Captain will dismiss us for liberty call!

A photographer has been reserved for the night and photography is encouraged.
